3D printed earphone housings

Audio headphone manufacturer Sennheiser has developed a range of earphones with a 3D printed metal housing.

According to the company, the housings are made of AMLOY-ZR01 zirconium-based alloy supplied by Heraeus Amloy Technologies processed be a Trumpf 3D printer. After 3D printing, the housings are cleaned, steel shot blasted and polished, Sennheiser said.

The alloy is also used to make the drilling head of the NASA Mars Rover, according to the company.
