The UK automotive industry passed the one million mark in engine manufacturing, the SMMT says.
Production rose 17.3% in the month with overseas demand up 30.5% in April and 15.9% year to date.
‘It is fantastic to see Britain’s engine plants continue to break production records – a result of significant investment into R&D and facilities, and ongoing demand for the advanced low emission internal combustion engines of which the UK is a world leader,’ said Mike Hawes, SMMT chief executive.
