Plansee joins clean energy program

Plansee reportedly plans to exclusively use electricity from renewable sources when producing Apple components from the end of 2022.

This is part of Apple’s Clean Energy Program, the company says. Apple doubled the use of renewables in its supply chain in 2021, the equivalent to 10 gigawatts of green energy, and aims for its supply chain to be carbon neutral by 2030.

Plansee says that it has also increased its use of recycled raw materials when making Apple components.

"We are delighted to be joining Apple's Supplier Clean Energy Program and to work with them on new ideas for conserving resources, the circular economy, and reducing our carbon footprint," said Plansee executive board member Wolfgang Köck.
