The European Powder Metallurgy Association (EPMA) has appointed Dr Lionel Aboussouan as EPMA deputy executive director, to succeed Jonathan Wroe, who passed away late last year.   Dr Aboussouan officially started with the EPMA on 22 February 2016 and will be taking over the day-to-day running of the association, its staff and projects.   He previously worked at Arcelor Research and the World Steel Association, which represents over 150 steel producers, including 9 of the world's 10 largest steel companies. At ArcelorMittal he had the role of head of health, safety, environment and quality and was responsible for the creation of procedures, standards and indicators for health and safety legislation.   ‘Many of Lionel’s skills and working practises that he has gained over his working career will be a real asset to the EPMA moving forward,’ said EPMA president Phillippe Gundermann. ‘Lionel will build on the firm foundations left by Jonathan and work with EPMA members, staff and stakeholders to continue the success of one of Europe’s leading trade associations.’   Dr Volker Arnhold, former GKN executive manager and EPMA board & council member, has been recruited as a temporary executive director for the EPMA to assist Lionel with support during his introductory period.
