3D printing technician courses

The Additive Manufacturing Users’ Group (AMUG) reports that two new additive manufacturing (AM) workshops will be held before its conference, taking place 22-26 March 2020 in Chicago, Illinois, USA.

The workshops are for those seeking technician certification or an understanding of the standards development process and current initiatives.

The SME are running a two-day AM technician review from 21-22 March 2020 program that provides a preparation course followed by a certification exam. The certification covers key roles and responsibilities for an AM technician, the AM process chain, design for AM, materials and process selection, secondary processes, and key safety considerations.

The ASTM is offering a workshop entitled Accelerating AM Technology Adoption Through Standardization and Certification, on 22 March. It will cover AM standard development process, gaps in additive manufacturing standards, research and development initiatives from ASTM to drive standard development, research and development opportunities skewed to standard development and certification approaches for AM.
