ASTM 3D printing standards forum

ASTM International says that its next Standards Forum will take place in Frankfurt, Germany, on 15 November 2021, in conjunction with the Formnext 2021 show.

The forum, entitled ‘Industrialization of AM through standardization – How to take AM [additive manufacturing] to the next level?’ has been organized by the US Commercial Service, ASTM International, and the International Organization for Standardization (ISO).

The one-day event will focus on how standards impact the industrialization of AM and how to leverage standards for various AM applications across a variety of industry sectors.

According to ASTM, the forum will include two keynote sessions and panel discussions covering AM industrialization and standards challenges. The breakout sessions will allow participants to share perspectives and focus on industry-specific needs for AM standards with a particular emphasis on aerospace, medical, automotive, construction, energy, and many others. 

It includes six presentations covering:

  • Digitalization
  • Big data
  • AM automation
  • Rapid qualification and certification
  • How standards drive the adoption of AM in different industry sectors.
