Steve Houston to Resign as PCI Executive Director

The Powder Coating Institute, PCI, has announced that Steve Houston will officially resign as the executive director of PCI, effective, Nov. 15. Industry veteran Ken Kreeger is set to take over as interim director.

Houston assumed the role as executive director in May 2008, helping to institute new programs and added benefits for the industry and the PCI membership. “When I was hired as the [executive] director, our goal was to make sure we continued to add value to the organizations dedicated to the powder coating market place,” Houston said. “In two short years we have incorporated a complete laboratory, added a technical infrastructure, expanded PCI internationally, designed and launched a globally recognized certification program, established the first of its kind North American Industrial Coating Show in conjunction with NACE, designed a new and improved PCI website, as well as a total new look for the Powder Coated Tough publication.”

Kreeger added: “Through Steve’s leadership we have been able to take PCI to a new level in commitment and contribution to the powder coating marketplace. We are extremely appreciative for Steve’s vision and dedication to make PCI the most significant association dedicated to powder coatings in the world.”

Houston will join TCI as vice president of sales and marketing and business expansion. For more than two decades, TCI, a business division of RPM, has been a key producer of powder coatings to the North American powder market. Houston stated: “While I am very excited about my new position at TCI, I could not have left PCI unless I felt the programs and services we worked so hard to create would be continued and supported by the new leadership. To that end, I am very pleased to turn the reins over to Ken Kreeger, a long-time business associate that has supported PCI through his more than 41 years with Nordson Corporation.”

While Mr. Kreeger will become the interim executive director, a search committee has been formed to begin the interviewing process for a permanent director.
