Powder Coating Institute Board Approves New Executive Director

The Board of Directors of the Powder Coating Institute, or PCI, has approved industry veteran, David Lurie, as its new executive director, effective Nov. 1, 2012. Since May, Lurie has acted as PCI's co-executive director. "We are pleased that we have been able to find someone with Dave Lurie’s business background, devotion to customer service, and creative and innovative thinking in the markets that we serve as well as the integrity to help guide the association in the future," said Bob Cregg (Sherwin-Williams), president of the PCI board. "I am confident we will continue to make great strides under his leadership." Lurie had nearly 32 years in trade publication experience with BNP Media, starting his career there as market research director. During his career he served as publisher of Paint & Coatings Industry, Industrial Heating, Ceramic Industry magazines, and he founded Process Heating and Adhesives & Sealants Industry magazines. Lurie also founded the Furnaces North America trade show, and he started and ran several conferences and events. Lurie has overseen development of various e-Media products, including web sites, eNewsletters, webinars and social media platforms. In addition, Lurie has served on the boards of the Industrial Heating Equipment Association and the Metal Treating Institute. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Michigan State University."Dave is committed to working with The Powder Coating Institute's excellent staff, board, committees and individual members to provide service to the association’s members and support and enhance the association’s programs," Cregg added. "He looks forward to working with member companies to help grow the use of powder coating."Moreover, Lurie believes that after the extremely successful COATING 2012 show, PCI is well positioned for an even larger event in 2013 – called Powder Coating 2013 -- under the experienced direction of Jennifer Egan. Additionally, he already has plans in place to launch e-Media platforms for 2013 along with a redesign of PCI's well-known Powder Coated Tough magazine. "I know that Dave looks forward to meeting members in person and listening to your ideas on how to continue the growth of our industry," Cregg added.
