John F Sweet, president and CEO of metal parts producer FMS Corporation, has been elected the 29th president of the Metal Powder Industries Federation (MPIF), succeeding Patrick J McGeehan, Ametek.
His two-year term will start at the end of the MPIF’s annual management summit and business meeting, taking place from 21–24 October 2017, in Florida.
In other news, Dax Whitehouse of NetShape Technologies, has been elected president of the Powder Metallurgy Parts Association (PMPA) and Dean Howard, North American Höganäs, was re-elected to serve a second term as president of the Metal Powder Producers Association (MPPA), while Thomas Houck, Carpenter Technology, will serve a second term as president of the Metal Injection Molding Association (MIMA).
Sweet has worked for FMS Corporation for 27 years and most recently served as president of the Powder Metallurgy Parts Association. He has also served the association and MPIF actively for many years and received MPIF's Distinguished Service to Powder Metallurgy Award earlier this year. He has been a member of APMI International for 29 years, is a certified Level I Powder Metallurgy Technologist, and serves on the APMI Board of Directors. Sweet has also been an elected trustee of the Center for Powder Metallurgy Technology.
