NCDMM member joins Oak Ridge

The National Center for Defense Manufacturing and Machining (NCDMM) reports that NCDMM board member Thomas R Kurfess, has been appointed chief manufacturing officer at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL). Dr Kurfess will support ORNL’s research in advanced manufacturing, focusing on the development of new manufacturing platforms and control systems that will enable autonomous manufacturing through robotics and controls.

Prior to joining ORNL, Dr Kurfess was a professor and HUSCO/Ramirez distinguished chair in fluid power and motion control at the Georgia Institute of Technology.
