The company has shrunk dramatically from having 40 US factories four years ago to four now, and its US workforce has reduced from 50 600 to 14 000. Its overseas operations, however, have remained profitable throughout the crisis that has engulfed the US-based business.
Delphi’s US production used to feature most of the parts that General Motors needed. Now it focuses on electronics, powertrain, heating and cooling systems.
