Together with two project partners, Frank Herzog, founder and CEO of 3D printer Concept Laser has been nominated as a candidate for the German Future Prize 2015.

The prize is awarded to developers from industry and science that have rendered outstanding services with projects and initiatives in Germany.

Herzog’s project, entitled ‘3D printing in civil aircraft manufacturing – a production revolution is taking off’ focuses on a titanium component on Airbus A350 XWB additively manufactured by the company. This component was previously a milled part made of aluminum and is now a printed part made of titanium with a weight reduction of around 30%.
