Battery plant in Tennessee

6K Energy, a producer of materials for lithium-ion batteries, has begun construction of a cathode manufacturing plant based in Jackson, Tennessee, USA.

The plant is scheduled to open in Q3 2024 with 13K metric tons per annum (tpa) production capacity. It costs more than US$200 million and partially funded by a US$50 mn US Department of Energy grant.

“Our PlusCAM facility is the world’s most sustainable process that fulfills the need for domestically sourced low-cost battery material for our nation’s critical infrastructure, grid storage, and electric vehicles,” said 6K Energy president Sam Trinch.
