ASTM committee honors refractory metal specialist

Gordon Hunter, principal material science manager at Smith & Nephew, has been given the HR ‘Russ’ Ogden Award from ASTM International’s committee on reactive and refractory metals and alloys.

 Hunter, who joined ASTM in 2009, was honored for his accomplishments in the science and technology of reactive and refractory metals and alloys. He previously served as the group manager for materials quality and strategic manufacturing for Smith & Nephew, research project manager for Smith & Nephew and senior research engineer of alloy and process development with General Electric Aircraft Engines

Hunter is a member of ASM International, the Mineral, Metals and Materials Society, American Society for Quality, Society for Biomaterials, Society of Manufacturing Engineers, Sigma Xi, and the International Society for Technology in Arthroplasty.
