EOS has added a new material, EOS Aluminium Al2139 AM, engineered specifically for additive manufacturing (AM).
According to the company, the powder has improved performance in elevated temperatures up to 200°C and is EOS’ highest strength AM aluminum alloy.
In its heat-treated state Al2139 AM achieves a yield and tensile strength around 500 MPa (megapascal). It also has high strength at elevated temperatures up to 200 °C and good corrosion resistance, EOS said. Components produced using EOS Aluminium Al2139 AM can also be electropolished and anodized.
