As seen in this video, the engine, called Tri-D, was funded by NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center and was made using DMLS, or direct metal laser sintering layers of chromium-cobalt powder. Designed by students at the University of California, the engine is 17.7cm long, weighs 4.5 kg engine and can put out 200 pounds (90.7kg) of thrust.
