Stainless steel winners

The International Stainless Steel Forum (ISSF) announced the winners of the Gold, Silver and Bronze Awards in during its recent conference held in Shanghai, China.

The awards are for the best new applications for stainless steel in two categories: best new technology and best new development.

Best technology award

  • Gold award: POSCO for a non-coated stainless steel bipolar plate
  • Silver award: Outokumpu for a weldable sandwich with 3D-profiled core
  • Bronze award: Aichi Steel for thae hydrogen fueling receptacle in the Toyota Mirai fuel cell vehicle

Best development award

  • Gold award: POSCO for a stainless steel lined reservoir and Nippon Steel and Sumikin Stainless Corporation for the water supply tank in Yonago
  • Silver award: Columbus Stainless for a solar drier
  • Bronze award: POSCO for the development of PossFD for refrigrirant piping and Nippon Steel and Sumikin Stainless Corporation for the flap gate type seawall against flood disaster.
