SLM Solutions at Paris Air Show

SLM Solutions Group AG is presenting its portfolio for additive manufacturing (AM) based on selective laser melting at the Paris Air Show.

The company is showing the rover Asimov R3C, designed for lunar exploration and the SLM 280HL laser melting system.

SLM 280HL can cover the entire process of selective laser melting to produce high-quality metal components on the basis of three-dimensional CAD data. The machine is intended to be a ‘universal system’, which can be used in the field of R&D and also in the field of manufacturing complex components. The open control concept enables the user to customize and supply individual construction processes. Parts of Asimov test vehicle (wheels & camera adapter) were produced on SLM equipment.

‘Many years we did pioneer work as technology leader in additive manufacturing and invested in research and development of equipment and materials,’ said  Markus Rechlin, CEO of SLM Solutions Group AG. ‘Together with partners like EADS Innovation Works, we will optimize plants and continue to create new materials to withstand even higher demands. Our systems give companies the chance to optimize their production in a more efficient and independent way.’
