Slight revenue fall for Linde

The Linde Group reports that its revenue for the nine months to 30 September 2018 fell by 1.7% to €13.050 billion. However, adjusting for exchange rate effects arising solely from translation and for the impact of the first-time application of IFRS 15, group revenue was 4.8% higher than in the first nine months of 2017.

Group operating profit rose by 4.2% to €3.301 billion compared to €3.169 billion in the previous year, and after adjusting for exchange rate effects, the increase was 9%, while at 25.3%, the Group operating margin was higher than the figure for the first nine months of 2017 of 23.9%.

In the Gases Division, Linde generated revenue in the first nine months of 2018 of €10.908 billion, which was 3.0% below the figure for the prior-year period of €11.244 billion. After adjusting for exchange rate effects and for the impact of the first-time application of IFRS 15, revenue in the Gases Division increased by 4.5%.

Linde says that group revenue in 2018 is expected to be similar to that achieved in 2017 or to increase by up to 4%. Group operating profit after adjusting for exchange rate effects is expected to lie within a range from the prior-year figure to 5% higher.

In the Gases Division, after adjusting for the impact of IFRS 15 and for exchange rate effects, revenue is expected to lie between the 2017 figure and a figure which is 4% higher.
