Sherwin-Williams Adds 2K Epoxy Aerosol Primer for Military and Heavy Equipment Applications

Sherwin-Williams MIL-DTL-53022 Type V Aerosol Enhanced Corrosion Epoxy Primer, a two-component epoxy that offers the convenience of an aerosol and enables users to complete touch-ups and small jobs quickly and easily, is now available. According to Sherwin-Williams, the MIL-DTL-53022 Type V Aerosol Enhanced Corrosion Epoxy primer is the first epoxy technology available in an aerosol to be approved by the Army Research Lab in Aberdeen, Md.

Offering excellent corrosion resistance, the new primer is an aerosol version of Sherwin-Williams MIL-DTL-53022 Type IV 2K liquid spray epoxy primer and meets the specification requirements of 1,000 hours of salt spray and 40 cycles of cyclic corrosion. It is available in 250mL and 400mL sizes.

"This new epoxy aerosol primer is all about customer convenience," said Beth Ann Pearson, Global Product Manager, Military Coatings, Sherwin-Williams. "An aerosol saves time, with no need for equipment set-up. When an ARL-approved epoxy primer is needed for outstanding corrosion resistance, this product is perfect for small jobs and touch-ups away from the finishing area."

Market applications include military, heavy equipment and automotive end-uses. Completely portable, this fast-drying primer may be used under CARC topcoats or any application where corrosion resistance is needed.
