Sandvik to invest SEK200 million in Coromant business unit.

The investment pertains to a new prototype workshop for cemented-carbide tools and the company’s new Productivity and Application Centre in Sandviken, Sweden, as well as a new Application Centre at its existing production unit in Langfang, China.  

“The investments represent part of our future strategy to ensure that the most efficient applications and training methods are used in our operations,” said Klas Forsström, president of Sandvik Coromant.  

Sandvik Coromant, which is included in the Sandvik Machining Solutions business area, is a supplier of tools, tooling systems, service and expertise in the area of metal cutting. Sandvik Coromant has approximately 8,000 employees worldwide.  

Sandvik Coromant currently has 26 productivity centres and a number of training units where customers, employees and partners from across the globe can learn about the latest in the area of metal cutting and cemented-carbide tools. The company also has eight application centres globally with each unit is focused on a specific industry, such as the automotive, aerospace or energy sectors.
