Its special-only drilling ranges are now available as standard, while the company has introduced new geometry for counterboring inserts along with a new insert grade for skiving operations.

The CoroDrill 800 and 801 deep hole drilling systems are now available as standard programmes on short delivery times. While the former is offered in specific diameters 25-65 mm and the latter in 65.0-165.1 mm, together they form a complete standard range across applications that include oil exploration, aerospace and primary metals.

In addition, Sandvik Coromant says that collets and sealing sleeves for generic STS applications will now be stocked as standard, offering short delivery times for maximum production uptime. The programme consists of 21 sizes covering tube range 94-13E (drill size 15.60-65.00 mm).

Similarly, the CoroDrill 818 counterboring system is now stocked in specific sizes 40.00-301.75 mm. For use on STS machines, CoroDrill 818 is supported by an programme of insert geometries and grades for all materials. A new A geometry in the TXN insert family provides high process security when counterboring extra long-chipping materials such as Inconel and duplex stainless steels.

The new TXN inserts feature dedicated chip breakers for superior chip control and an iLock tip seat interface for secure location. Furthermore, the inserts are suitable for both push and pull counterboring operations. Metric insert sizes 16, 25 and 40 are available in four different grades.

Sandvik Coromant has also developed insert grade GC1525 for skiving operations in high alloy steels and duplex stainless steels. Aimed at manufacturers in the hydraulic tube and oil and gas sectors, GC1525 is designed to improve both surface finish and tool life, while reducing cost per component. It is available in metric insert sizes 6, 7 and 11 for a diameter range of 38.0-305.6 mm.
