Before this appointment Purushotham was head of the Knowledge Management Centre at the International Advanced Research Centre for Powder Metallurgy and New Materials (ARCI) at Hyderabad.
The ARCI, founded in 1997, focuses on the development of high performance materials and processes for niche markets, the demonstration of prototype technologies and the transfer of technology to Indian industry.
The NRDC was established in India in 1953 to help commercialise technologies developed at various national research and development institutions in the country.
