The new ALMMII facility will serve as the organization’s regional hub, housing offices, meeting rooms, and training and laboratory space, the company reports.
Cutting-edge technologies
ALMMII is part of President Obama’s National Network of Manufacturing Innovation, an initiative to accelerate the development and adoption of cutting-edge manufacturing technologies for lightweight materials that improve mission capability and energy utilization of land, sea and air transportation.
Other institutes include America Makes, the 3D printing research center, and the Institute for Advanced Composites Manufacturing Innovation (IACMI). “We are pleased to be an establishing partner of the ALMMII and to be on hand to celebrate the opening of its new facility in Detroit,” said Glenn Maxwell, President of Materion’s Performance Metals Group. “It’s exciting to have the opportunity to showcase our expertise providing materials solutions such as powder metallurgy and to be part of the initiative to bring these innovative materials to market more quickly.”
