America Makes reports that Joel D. Neidig, director of research & development at machining company ITAMCO has formed Atlas3D, a new 3D printing software start-up company focusing on metal additive manufacturing (AM).
The company based in Plymouth, Indiana, USA, was formed following an America Makes-funded project.
Atlas3D’s software automatically generates parametric designs of functional support structures for metal alloy feedstocks for 3D printing, and features a plugin which orientates a model based on heat transfer and expert knowledge using algorithms for the best cost-effective build.
