Patrik Johansson has been named vice director for the Graphene Flagship Europe, an EU-funded research project focused on industrializing graphene and related materials.
Johansson is a professor of physics at Chalmers University of Technology. He will replace Vincenzo Palermo who served as vice director for three years.
According to the Graphene Flagship organizers, Johansson is a specialist in battery re-search and has worked on developing Li-S batteries with them since the launch of the pro-ject last spring. He has also studied grafted graphene-based electrodes computationally and experimentally with partners in Slovenia and Bulgaria.
‘I look forward to gaining a wider scope in my understanding and use of graphene in my new role with the Graphene Flagship,’ said Johansson. ‘In particular, I hope I can help con-tribute to the Graphene Flagship’s efforts to raise the maturity level of projects and de-velop solutions to urgent problems.’
