Somerset Community College’s (SCC), Kentucky, USA has been awarded a grant to develop an additive manufacturing (AM) center of excellence.
This forms part of the college’s Additive Manufacturing: Appalachian Kentucky Expansion (AMAKE) project along with local partners Ashland Community and Technical College (ACTC).
With government funding, SCC says that it can establish an additive manufacturing production network with ACTC in both polymers and metals.
SCC was the first college in the Kentucky Community and Technical College System to add metal AM to its advanced manufacturing capabilities.
