PM specialist GKN Powder Metallurgy plans to inaugurate a dedicated digital area for metal additive manufacturing (AM) during an event at its plant in Bonn, Germany.
The focus of the area will be on reducing lead times, by concentrating on the implementation of digital and production processes. Plans are to make a noticeable reduction in development and production times of prototype construction in the automotive area. In addition, using digital processes could have considerable advantages compared to conventional process chain and production methods, the company says. The plant in Bonn will fulfill the ISO 16949 (automotive), AS 9100 (aerospace) and ISO 13485 (medical devices) certifications.
