“We didn’t anticipate the workforce would grow so quickly, but we’ve found a good home here,” company President Mike Lutheran said in a statement. “With the expansion of our company over the next three to five years, we’re hoping to continue to increase the number of our employees.”
The Rockford plant produces of copper powders, copper alloy powders, pre-alloyed bronze and premixes.
The plans should generate about US$5 million in investment for the facility, equipment and infrastructure, according to the company.
In June 2010, American Chemet purchased the manufacturing assets of the cooper-based air and water atomizing and facility in Rockford that was previously known as US Bronze Powders Inc. American Chemet also has manufacturing facilities in East Helena, Montana.
