Dürr Corporation, an internationally known mechanical and plant engineering group headquartered in Germany with subsidiaries around the world, earlier this achieve an important milestone: the sale of painting robot No. 5,000 in an order to Volkswagen Taubate. The robot will be employed in a Brazilian factory along with 84 other new Dürr robots in two new top coat lines.

The Dürr painting robot was introduced in the mid-90s, with the first units being utilized in Germany and Spain. Among the key attributes of the initial robots: fast color changes, flexibility, productivity, and high quality. That led to the second-generation of Dürr painting robots, which have become staples in automobile factories on five continents in 34 countries—utilized particularly by Tier 1 suppliers of automobile parts. Beyond automotive, Dürr painting robots are also used for painting in the aerospace industry, in wind power plants and in railroad technology. More than 1,000 of the painting robots are installed in Germany, with more than 800 in China.
