Cytec Wins Innovation Award at the 40th Annual Waterborne Symposium

[Woodland Park, NJ – March 22, 2013] – Cytec Industries Inc. received the first Siltech Innovation Award for the paper titled, “New Advances in High Performance Waterborne Radiation-Curable Emulsions and Dispersions” at the 40th Annual Waterborne, High-Solids, and Powder Coatings Symposium in New Orleans, La., in February.

The award was presented to Michel Tielemans, PhD, research manager at Cytec and one of the authors of the paper, at the 2013 Waterborne Symposium. The paper was chosen as the "most innovative" by the Scientific Committee at University of Southern Mississippi. "On behalf of the team, we are honored to be acknowledged by Siltech Corporation for our innovative technologies," Dr. Tielemans stated.

Cytec said it has developed novel proprietary emulsion technology to expand the application field of waterborne radiation curable products. New hardcoat emulsions enable formulators to develop a high-solid, solvent-free UV hardcoat for spray application that better meets environmental awareness and delivers properties that are similar to a dedicated 100% UV resin. The technology also allows the creation of complex polymer dispersions, resulting in distinctive multi-phase coatings with upgraded performance. ABOUT THE WATERBORNE SYMPOSIUM The Waterborne Symposium has a reputation for excellent scientific presentations and discussions with leading experts in the field of polymer science and surface coatings. The event is hosted by the School of Polymers & High Performance Materials at The University of Southern Mississippi.
