Speaking at the organisation’s General Assembly in Brussels at which he was re-elected for a further three-year term, Ingo Cremer said: “The latest specialist group to be formed is the PM Hot Isostatic Press (HIP) group. It’s great to see new advances like this. It indicates that there could and should be more. They might include Rapid manufacturing, Nuclear Fuels or Energy-related PM, or even neighbouring technologies such as Technical Ceramics and Plasma Spraying.”
Likening the events of 2009 to a tsunami, he said that the banks had to extend credit and liquidity to prevent further damage. “But,” he went on, “It is not all down to the banks. Managing our companies more effectively and finding new and wider applications for our technology are just as important.”
Investors and business owners too needed to demonstrate confidence in the reality of “after the storm”; making sure contracts were signed and carried through in a timely fashion rather than put off, and payments made on time rather than postponed.
“Today we have good signs of recovery; powder shipments are up and it seems to me that PM is probably though the worst. We must demonstrate our faith in the system, without complacency, and make sure that it works efficiently to develop the business strategies we need to deal with reality in the post-recession world.”
