Cooksongold announces new collaboration with 3D LAB

Precious metal additive manufacturer and supplier Cooksongold, has formed a collaboration with 3D LAB sp zoo, a Polish 3D printer specialist, to develop powder atomization technology for additive manufacturing (AM).

The companies plan to promote 3D Lab’s AtoNoble compact powder atomisation machine that they say could help revolutionize powder and parameter development.

The machine reportedly uses a patented ultrasonic plasma atomization process to melt non-reactive precious metals into powder form.

Typically, powder atomisers take up a large space and infrastructure that requires a high volume of raw product, Cooksongold says. The AtoNoble has been specially designed to be compact, measuring around 1995 mm high, 813 mm wide and 1138 mm deep. It is also able to use much smaller quantities of raw material, such as metal rods or wire that feed into the machine to create the atomised powder. AtoNoble is the first of its kind to be specially adapted for precious metal powders including gold, silver and platinum, according to the companies. It is suitable for industries such as jewellery, health care, the electronics industry and aerospace.
