America Makes appoints executive director

Rob Gorham has become the new additive manufacturing institute America Makes executive director, replacing Ed Morris. Rob joined the National Center for Defense Manufacturing and Machining (NCDMM) in February 2013 as the America Makes deputy director for technology development and has served for the past two and half years as the America makes director of operations.

‘Rob is eminently qualified to follow in Ed’s footsteps as the new America Makes executive director,’ said Ralph Resnick, NCDMM president and executive director. ‘Among his many accomplishments as a key member of NCDMM’s America Makes management team, Rob led the development of a robust member-driven additive manufacturing roadmapping methodology, and shaped and refined America Makes’ project call process that has resulted in a US$97 million research and development portfolio.’

Before joining NCDMM, Rob was the senior manager for advanced manufacturing systems and prototyping as part of the advanced development programs (ADP), also known as Skunk Works, at the Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Company.
