Metal Powder Report expands editorial team

In keeping with the recent addition of new departments and sections to Metal Powder Report (and metal-powder.net), we have likewise expanded the editorial staff in support of our stated growth initiatives. To that end, we are pleased to announce the appointments of Mark Holmes as managing editor, MPR, and Amanda Jacob as content development manager. The appointments are effective immediately.

Holmes and Jacob, both 14-plus-year veterans of Elsevier, will further enhance the dynamic of Metal Powder Report. “Mark is an experienced magazine editor who has previously headed prominent Elsevier titles,” said David Hopwood, Group Publisher and B2B Team Leader. Likewise, Amanda, who worked on Reinforced Plastics magazine since she started at Elsevier 15 years ago, brings her experience and perspective to the magazine. “As content development editor, she will be responsible for helping to drive the development of our digital presence, as well as our social media efforts,” Hopwood added.

Most recently, Holmes served as editor in chief of Filtration+Separation magazine, which celebrates its 50th anniversary this year. The publication provides news and technical solutions for users of filtration and separation equipment, and its readers are involved in a wide range of applications. These include drinking and pure water, sewage and wastewater, desalination, industrial air filtration, HVAC, automotive and transport, mining and metals, oil and gas, food and beverage, wood pulp and paper, chemicals and pharmaceuticals, health care, electrical and electronic, and power generation, among others.

Holmes’ experience covers business-to-business publishing, scientific journalism, press and public relations, and corporate communications. Prior to Filtration + Separation, he served as the editor of Plastics Additives & Compounding magazine for more than 10 years. Holmes attended Sheffield Hallam University, where he received a Post-graduate Diploma, Technical Authorship. He also attended Swansea University, where he earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Chemical Engineering.

At Reinforced Plastics, which has also been in production for more than 50 years, Jacob held the role of editor for more than 10 years. Her specialties include: B2B publishing, journalism, event management, commercial strategy, communications, marketing, and social media. Jacob, who has also developed online programming such as webinars and podcasts, is particularly adept at integrating print and electronic platforms. She also has a knack for audience development.

The addition of Holmes and Jacob supplement the current lineup of contributing editors Ken Brookes and Joe Capus, experts in hard metals and powder metallurgy, respectively, and Liz Nickels, assistant editor. I will take on the role of consulting editor, providing guidance and support to Holmes, who will manage the day-to-day operations of the magazine moving forward. I will also continue to provide coverage of select PM events for the magazine and remain closely involved with the execution of special projects, new programmes and initiatives.

Please join me in welcoming the new members to the MPR editorial team!
