SLM Solutions says that its metal additive manufacturing (AM) machines have been selected by Rolls-Royce to help develop the manufacturer’s 3D printing capability for the aerospace market.
The SLM500 incorporates four lasers and has build rates up to 171 cm3, making it suitable for high volume processes. It has automated, closed-loop material supply, recovery and sieving to minimize operator handling of metal powder, while there is control of inert gas flow to maintain a controlled working atmosphere across the build chamber, SLM says.
