New materials data platform

ASM International has launched a new platform for materials data.

According to the materials information society, its Data Ecosystem can change the data into machine readable formats and make it easier for users to do further research.

It also works with other analytical tools such as Oak Ridge’s ASCENDS software, Dante Solution’s tool for heat treatment simulation and thermal engineering, the PANDAT modeling platform for materials design and the SMARTUQ machine learning (UQ) software tool.

ASM will also launch its Global Materials Platform in January 2022 which it says incorporates 20 million property records for over 450,000 metallic and non-metallic materials presented in 26 languages.

“Data has become the fuel of progress and advanced analytics is the engine that turns data into knowledge and solutions,” said Dr Ray Fryan, ASM executive director of product development. “Via Data Ecosystem, we’ll help our members predict more, and experiment less, reuse data more, and recreate data less, and that is a big deal.”
