Sandvik Coromant says that it is upgrading its range of turning inserts for machining ISO-P steels with the launch of two new carbide grades.
The new GC4415 and GC4425 inserts are designed for external and internal machining of low-alloyed and unalloyed steels and reportedly have improved toughness and heat resistance and more predictable wear.?
??GC4415 and GC4425 are suitable for manufacturers operating in mass and batch production set-ups machining low alloyed (P 2.1 to 2.6) and unalloyed (P 1.1 to 1.5) steels, respectively, Sandvik said.
While both grades can be used for finishing to roughing, in applications with continuous cuts and light interruptions, GC4415 is designed to complement GC4425 when improved performance and more heat resistance is needed. The inserts also reportedly show improved wear resistance over competing inserts, which contributes towards extended tool life and predictable performance with every use.
Sandvik says that the carbide substrate of the new grades contains more than 40% recycled carbide material.
