Modelling 3D printing software

3D printing specialist Materialise has licensed geometric modelling software for use with its software for data and build preparation.

Siemens’ Parasolid software can now be used with Magics 26, the company said. This allows the use of native CAD workflows for additive manufacturing (AM), providing an additional toolset on top of mesh functionality.

“For years, the 3D printing industry has discussed whether CAD or mesh is the preferred workflow for file preparation,” said Stefaan Motte, VP at Materialise. “We believe both offer unique benefits and a seamless integration of both formats will provide users with the optimal workflow.”
