Low porosity stainless steel

Additive manufacturing (AM) company Uniformity Labs has launched a range of low porosity 316L and 17-4 PH stainless steel powders.

According to the company, the powder metal exhibits tap densities of up to 85% and melts to produce parts averaging over 99.95% density. In layers of 50um and 60um thickness, build rates are said to be up to 2x-3x faster for typical complex geometry additive parts in a laser powder bed fusion (L-PBF) system.

Uniformity plans to release 60um and 90um parameters in future.
