Kyocera says that it has developed a new insert grade for the stable machining of hardened materials. The new PR015S Megacoat Hard material is part of its MFH high feed cutter series and has been developed especially for difficult milling operations, the company said.
The PR015S features a heat resistant physical vapor deposition PVD coating with increased hardness, which improves wear resistance, according to Kyocera. It is available with different geometries with a maximum cutting depth of up to 5 mm.
