Al powder for 3D printers

Elementum 3D has partnered with SLM Solutions to make aluminum alloy powder for its NXG XII 600E 12-laser 3D printers.

According to the companies, similar alloys can be hard to print and prone to cracking, making them unsuitable for use in the aerospace and space industries.

The companies plan to develop aluminum alloys 2024 and 6061 or aerospace grade 7050 and 7075 for use with SLM technology in 2023, using Elementum’s RAM powder production technology.

“This strong partnership will [...] pave a path for an enhanced material portfolio enabling better-performing applications and new business cases,” said Sam O’Leary, CEO of SLM Solutions.
