Werner Auer’s position as head of Siemens VAI Metals Technologies is designed to ensure continuity of leadership, according to Jens Michael Wegmann, CEO of the Industry Solutions Division. “I'd like to take this opportunity to express my thanks to Richard Pfeiffer; as head of Siemens Metals Technologies, he has played a key role in shaping and successfully expanding this business in the last three years,” Wegmann said. Mr. Pfeiffer is to take on other tasks in the Industry Solutions Division, Wegmann noted.
Auer is a 25-year veteran of the industry. After studying power engineering and energy management at the Technical University in Vienna, Auer joined VAI (Voest Alpine Industrieanlagenbau) in 1982 and worked in numerous management positions in international plant construction, focusing on equipment and systems for steelworks and on environmental engineering. In 1997 he was a management spokesman and CFO of VAI Fuchs in Germany as well as head of the “Steelworks engineering, environmental engineering and long products” section of the VAI Group. Auer has been CFO of Siemens Metals Technologies since Oct. 1, 2006.
