Velo3D has made a video showing parts being pulled out a 3D printer’s metal powder bed, without any support structures tying them to a build plate.
According to the company, it has developed a new process that avoids the need for both supports and plate, allowing up to 700% more parts to be stacked to achieve full build volume. This enables users to break the so-called ‘45 degree rule’ and print more complex geometries with a reduction in post-processing steps, Velo3D says.
