Utah to Propose Revised Architectural and Industrial Maintenance Rule

The American Coatings Association reports Utah’s Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) has released an advanced notice of rulemaking for architectural and industrial maintenance (AIM) coatings’ volatile organic compound (VOC) content. The draft rule is based on the Ozone Transport Commission Phase II model rule.

If the draft rule gains DEQ management approval this month, it will go to the June Board as a proposal to post for public comment, ACA reports

Of note, the rule applies to only seven counties in Utah: Box Elder, Cache, Davis, Salt Lake, Tooele, Utah, and Weber Counties. The proposed rule offers a compliance date of Sept. 1, 2014, and also contains a three-year sell-through provision.
