US plant for 3D printed implants

Materialise has opened a new 3D printing facility in the US focused on making bespoke titanium implants.

Previously, the company made the cranio-maxillofacial (CMF) implants used for facial reconstructive surgery solely at its 3D printing facility in Belgium, it said.

“With the opening of our new metal 3D printing center in the US, we bring personalized care closer to US patients,” said Brigitte de Vet, VP.

The company says that it now produces 280,000 custom 3D printed instruments and implants per year, including 160,000 for the US market.
