The new facility features state-of-the-art equipment for development and testing of automotive catalysts for the Japanese automotive industry.
The facility will enable Umicore Shokubai Japan to further enhance its service level for testing next generation catalysts and will broaden its offering to Japanese OEMs.
Umicore Shokubai Japan’s President, Hideaki Muraki, commented: “Growing our global catalyst business with Japanese automotive producers is a key element of our strategy. We value not only the support of our customers but also of our parent companies Umicore and Nippon Shokubai.”
The investment was supported by development grants from the Japanese External Trade Organisation (JETRO) and the Aichi Prefecture. The Umicore Shokubai Japan HQ will also be transferred from Tokyo to Tokoname City.
