Top PM award for Kennametal engineer

ASTM International’s committee on metal powders and metal powder products has presented its top annual award, the Award of Merit, to Joseph M Tauber, staff engineer at Kennametal Inc. The award, which includes the accompanying title of fellow, is ASTM’s highest recognition for individual contributions to developing standards.

Tauber was honored for his technical expertise and outstanding contributions to the committee in the development of material testing standards, and for leadership in other international standards organizations, especially with respect to cemented carbides and their raw materials.

A member of ASTM International since 1999, Tauber is also a member of ASTM committees on additive manufacturing technologies and wear and erosion. In 2015, the committee on metal powders and metal powder products honored Tauber with the Distinguished Service Award.

Tauber has previously served as a supervisor of chemical analysis and a laboratory technician for Kennametal and a lab instructor at St. Vincent College.
