The Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) reports that Chris Owen will step down as chief executive of its industry forum.
According to the association, Dr Owen has led the forum, which looks into ways to improve the automotive industry’s productivity and training, for more than eight years.
‘Having worked with Chris for over 20 years, I know just how capable he is,’ said Mike Baunton, chair of the forum. ‘The development of the National Manufacturing Competitiveness Levels (NMCL) program, a key driver in improving the UK’s manufacturing competiveness, is just one example of his many achievements during his career with Industry Forum.’
The forum reportedly has more than 150 cross-sector industry specialists and is active in 30 countries. Over the past 20 years, it has delivered more than 400 competitiveness and productivity programs and trained over 25,000 people. Recently, it implemented and began the rollout of the National Manufacturing Competitiveness Levels (NMCL) program aimed at helping automotive and aerospace manufacturers improve their competitiveness.
