SME Announces new manager of 3D printing

In this new role, Ayers will develop and manage all SME activities associated with AM.

“Around the world, additive manufacturing is changing the way companies design and manufacture products,” said Debbie Holton, SME managing director of industry strategy and events. “With the addition of Kevin to SME, we’ll be able to even better serve the additive manufacturing and 3D printing industry, as he brings a wealth of knowledge and will be able to identify even more opportunities where SME can lend its expertise and resources.”

Ayers has been an active member and volunteer leader with SME’s Rapid Technologies & Additive Manufacturing Community, as well as SME’s RAPID event. He will also serve on the governance board of America Makes and is active in the Additive Manufacturing Users Group (AMUG).

SME has been part of the AM arena for nearly 25 years, with the holding of its RAPID event. 

The SME has also defined the additive manufacturing body of knowledge with a review course and exam
